Resumen
This research focuses in the analysis of the literature work “Los ríos profundos” (The Deep Rivers) by the writer, anthropologist, ethnologist and professor José María Arguedas (1911-1969). In this way and from the reading of the work, it is proposed to analyze the validity and possible readings in the current Colombian context, and to highlight this author as an important author in the history of Latin American literature, which, from his narrative manages to transgress borders and time; in this way, in the framework of this research, authors such as Angel Rama (2008), William Rowe (1979), Alexis Rodríguez (2011) or Alejo Carpentier (1974), provide an horizon towards the importance and impact of Arguedas' work in Latin American literature. On the other hand, it is also highlighted from the treatment that this author gives to his literature, a reflection on the teaching of literature, reading and writing in the classroom.
