Resumen
Urban wetlands are key ecosystems in the ecological structure of cities. However, they are the most vulnerable to different threats arising from pressures from urban processes in their vicinity. In Colombia, this problem has been addressed through the implementation of different policies that seek the protection of this ecosystem. Despite this, there is no methodology to evaluate this management and whether it is being effective according to the objectives set out in the management plans or specific needs of each wetland. At a global level, this type of evaluation has been effective on protected areas and has made it possible to identify and prioritize the different actions leading to the conservation of a certain environmental value. The present work proposes a qualitative and quantitative methodology, easy to implement through interviews and surveys, for the evaluation of management effectiveness in urban wetlands. Through the review and summary of methodologies widely applied in different regions of the world, aspects that coincide with management objectives on this type of wetlands were taken. As a result, a methodology was obtained that allows us to diagnose the current state of the management of urban wetlands and it was evidenced that it works preliminarily, due to the existence of diverse controls that assure the quality of the information. Finally, a series of recommendations for its application was considered in order to strengthen management evaluation systems on urban natural areas in the country.
