Resumen
During the 2020 pandemic, education in rural communities in Colombia was severely affected due to a lack of internet connectivity, leaving students without access to school classrooms for around a year and a half. To address this situation, the Ministry of National Education implemented the "Viva la Escuela" program, with the aim of mobilizing university students and senior normal students in their final year to support educational processes on a voluntary basis in the most vulnerable areas of the country. The University Distrital Francisco José de Caldas joined the first implementation of the "Viva la Escuela" program, allowing students to volunteer as part of their internship. The internship assignment took place in the town of Aguas Vivas, located in the municipality of Piojó, Atlántico. The assigned educational institution was the San Antonio del Piojó IED School, which serves students from transition to fifth grade. Throughout the internship, various challenges were faced and significant experiences were experienced in the professional training of the intern, which is reflected in the development of the report. The internship sought to contribute to the reduction of educational gaps and improve the socio-emotional well-being of students in the rural community of Piojó, Atlántico.
