Abstract

Hundreds of children and adolescents grow up in custody institutions, with a declaration of adoptability, since due to different situations or circumstances they cannot remain with their families of origin, even by cause of the violent conditions that afflict the country. When declaring such a measure, most of the time communication is suspended and in turn the link that one has or can build with the family is limited, however this decision must be made in detail, without being a generality and in a rigorous manner, it must be understood from the particularity of the life history of each girl, boy or adolescent, one of the most important aspects must be their opinion, their will and their decision, according to their age, to enable or not to communicate with their family, that when leaving the protection system, it is essential to have support networks. These support networks, whether family or not, can be configured as an important support for young people who leave the protection system to have a flourishing life. In this research work, based on the stories of a young man who stayed for several years, as well as the stories of people who influenced his process, identify the importance of having support and identify how they can be configured as an important piece for the flowering of his life. This is an invitation to get closer to the life of a young man who for years grew up in a different environment than his family, it is also an invitation to raise awareness and contribute from professional work, regarding the importance of valuing the life of each child, child and adolescent as unique.
