Resumen
The Urabá region doesn’t have a rail connection that allows the decongestion of road transport, the promoter company FERROCARRIL DE ANTIOQUIA S.A.S. established the need to hire a specialized consultancy to carry out the "PRE-FEASIBILITY STUDIES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND COMMISSIONING OF A RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN MEDELLÍN AND THE URABÁ REGION". The corridor under study is located in the northwestern part of the Department of Antioquia, connecting it with the Urabá region, at a distance of approximately 350 km. For the execution of any railway project it is necessary to have environmental permits and licenses, which are granted by the environmental authorities; In Colombia, the entity in charge of enforcing environmental regulations so that works contribute to sustainable development is the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA). Starting from cartography and digital models of the existing terrain, it is necessary to corroborate and nourish the information contained there through digitization processes, geoprocessing, metadata generation and elaboration of a GDB in the ArcGIS software. With an analysis of spatial information of the different proposed routes, the objective is to compile the necessary information to determine which is the best alternative from the socio-environmental point of view for the project.
