Resumen
Since Protestant churches in the local sphere maintain a considerable musical activity, many congregations dedicate efforts to strengthen their musical activities within the religious practice. Nevertheless, it is possible to think that in some cases this activity has been disconnected from the role that music plays as a theological discussion and as a religious experience, this being stated in the light of what was said by Martin Luther, a reformist theologian and founder of the current that unites the Christian churches mentioned above. For this reason, this work intends to examine the ideas about music that can be identified in the thoughts of Luther, to subsequently link them with the contributions offered by Johann Sebastian Bach, composer and follower of the theologian. In the process, work has been carried out through primary and secondary sources, with methodological tools derived from critical reflection and musical analysis. The concepts derived from Lutheran ideas and the Bachian work, seen together, are a good opportunity to rethink the contribution that these ideas offer to the work of the Christian musician today. They bring to remembrance the relevance of music as a gift from God, how it is able to manifest order, as well as the appreciation of emotion in musicians and parishioners.
