The overcurrent protection setting in the protection coordination module is the result of a previous analysis in which studies such as load flow, short circuit and motor starting, there are many softwares capable of performing this type of studies for this particular ETAP will be used, since it is licensed. This simulation software sets the standard for power system design and analysis, can provide complete graphical interface for users and set diagrams single-line, impedance, protection plans, analysis and calculation tables. For this analysis, an IEEE system is used as the basis for modeling a system of power where two induction motor bays were incorporated at one voltage level (medium voltage) of 4160 (V) and a power range between 300-400 (Hp) which have three types of direct starts, variable frequency drive and soft starter. They will all model the elements of the power system including synchronous generator, transformer, lines transmission and induction machine, it is necessary to perform this modeling due to the electrical studies to be performed load flow, short circuit, motor starting and the overcurrent protection setting. Currently for the generation of electrical energy in both conventional models such as those associated with a distributed resource, auxiliary services are managed in which link highly relevant equipment such as (pumps, fans, mills, ...) these equipment are not of minor importance when evaluating a system of power, since they are elements that can affect the correct operation of the system, this leads us to perform parameterization analysis of the same, in this case carry out a study of motor starting and its influence on the operation of a system power. Starting from the start of the motors in the bays, an adjustment is made in the directional overcurrent and overcurrent protection this as a search result of information for the management and implementation of these in Etap, additionally performs differential protection setting as main protection in a ring system at 34.5 KV.
