Resumen
A comprehensive analysis of solid waste management in the capital cities of Colombia was carried out using various sources of information, mainly databases provided by the Superintendencia de Servicios Públicos Domiciliarios and data from the waste management systems of the capital cities. A systematic approach was used to identify trends and problems, as well as tools such as databases, analysis software and GIS. The first section provides a contextualization of waste management in the current context approached from Latin America, where waste management is evolving towards more sustainable approaches, such as the circular economy, due to population growth, unsustainable consumption and environmental challenges. In Colombia, on the other hand, despite regulatory and legal advances, structural deficiencies still persist. The second section consolidates the results obtained, the supply of disposal sites in the capital cities integrates variables of the disposal systems and their useful life. in parallel, the demand, understood as the total waste disposed, historical trends and projections are addressed. Potentialities, on the other hand, were analyzed through a characterization of the types of waste used, as well as the families that currently report the most, and the classification and use stations. The section concludes by recognizing the vulnerability to the lack of service and the challenges it presents to local governments through a recognition of the fiscal capacity, regional cooperation of the sites and the validity of the integrated solid waste management plans. Finally, the last chapter addressed the impacts on the approval of Bill 085, through projections of the goals proposed for the capital cities, as well as the responsibilities of the actors, formulated practical recommendations and consolidated the information in the booklet "Integrated Waste Management in Capital Cities", using graphic design and GIS tools. This analysis is expected to contribute to the knowledge on waste management in Colombia.
