Resumen
In this paper, we explore how traditional journalism has been undergoing certain changes and facing challenges in capturing young audiences, which has led to the need to hybridize and converge towards digital journalism. However, this new area presents phenomena that are unfamiliar to the analog world, making it necessary to investigate which of these phenomena or key factors are required in the digital landscape to ensure a smooth transition. To this end, the general objective was to analyze the elements preserved from traditional journalism during the transition to digitalization in the videos and livestreams of sports journalists — Jorge “El Patrón” Bermúdez, Eduardo Luis, and El Chiringuito Jugones — thus determining the innovative resources that streaming offers for the proper and profitable practice of journalism.
To achieve this, a mixed-methods approach was used, with structured matrix analyses of three case studies that transitioned from traditional to digital journalism and managed to establish themselves in the digital realm. As a result of the research, a roadmap with 13 key Points were was developed to ensure the proper performance of sports journalism on streaming platforms, with special attention to image, language, and content quality. Finally, it is concluded that it is indeed possible to achieve a smooth hybridization for journalists and audiences alike, without creating a conflict between traditional and digital approaches, instead leveraging the strengths of both and safeguarding the autonomy of the profession.
