Abstract

Interconnection between people through Internet has increased at an extraordinary scale and this has accelerated the need to connect objects, giving way to what is now called the Internet of Things. A concept that is being developed at an unprecedented speed. There are vast technologies supporting the Internet of Things and its development is continuous. This revolution will promote an intelligent environment that will generate a huge amounts of data which need to be stored, processed and presented in an appropriated way. However, this has become in a big challenge. The aim of this paper is to present knowledge about technology trends to handle large volumes of information and to identify which sectors of the Internet of Things generate valuable information for society.
