Resumen
Virgil Donati has been in the mouth of the drummer’s world community for decades, beginners, intermediates, advanced, professionals and notable performers recognize this Australian as one of the most advanced drummers in the world, finding technique, interdependence, sound, balance and knowledge that goes beyond the drums in his playing; discipline, challenge, performance and bold are synonymous with him, his innate ability to surprise the specialized audience as well as his fans is still valid. Nicknamed as "Alien" or simply "E.T", he started his career in the 70s playing hard rock but it´s not until 2013 that he decides and recognizes to release a solo album titled "In This Life", with dozens of recordings between those dates, several musical genres, artists, tours, concerts, books, clinics and an almost legendary standing reached towards the end of the 20th century, Donati still gives a special status to this album, what are his reasons?, Why didn´t he do it before? What ideas has he modified or maintained in the drumset after so long? How will his future works? Virgil follows a fixed course, how is it? What distinguishes him from other drummers similar to him? Will he continue making soloist productions? In This Life represents a turning point in his musical career and one of the few windows to his personal ideas apart from his clinics and books that aren’t easily to obtain in this part of the world. This writing is an approach to the trends and predispositions of Donati on the drums after years of experience, learning and musical maturity.
