Resumen
In this paper is presented an operational methodology with data from Landsat TM 5 Satellite, procedures of remote sensing and geo-statistical kriging to represent thematic maps which estimate the threat of forest fires in the eastern hills of Bogota, based on satellite images selected from 1987 to 1995.
This methodology relates quantity of Biomass, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Evapotranspiration (ET), Water Stress Index (WDI) and Leaf Area Index (LAI) to obtain a Fire Forest Threat Index with low, medium and high levels from a multitemporal analysis within the study area. The interaction between water content, evapotranspiration, type of crop or vegetation cover and weather conditions allows characterizing vulnerable areas to forest fires. The specific analysis of variables supports the generation of an appropriate methodology for any other case which is the final purpose of this paper and the starting point for further studies in the area.
