Resumen
Historically, cartography has played an important role in the development of humanity, because thanks to it, communities have been able to know, represent and graphically analyze the characteristics of their territories, facilitating the making of more accurate decisions that allow development, planning and risk mitigation. However, due to the limitations that cartography currently has, such as the limited information of data open to the public or the scales to represent large amounts of information, these types of scenarios make it difficult to constantly update geographic information. Consequently, cartography must be adapted to current needs, reducing precision in specific study areas. Optimization in the management of large amounts of information and control processes of cartographic products are essential to guarantee the quality of the product without affecting accuracy. In this sense, from the area of remote sensing it is possible to capture information in large areas. However, it is essential that trained personnel be able to analyze and evaluate the information collected; experts in applied earth sciences have an important role in the quality control of cartographic products. For this reason, the commitment offered by the company CUATRO CONCEPTOS S.A.S. must be highlighted. Which “is a Colombian consulting company with a presence in Latin America, specialized in the generation, transformation and management of Geographic Information, as support for projects related to environmental planning, territorial planning and cadastre with a multipurpose approach.” (Four Concepts, 2014). So, as a result of the internship, several purposes are intended to be achieved, which will be mentioned below: First, to provide correct and optimal functioning to the management of documentation and archiving of the project. Second, in classifying and analyzing data accurately using specialized tools and software. Third, in supporting the classification of corrected, adjusted and revised point clouds arranged with updated information. Fourth, with the cartographic products (Orthophotos, Digital Terrain Model, cartography) collected, create precise maps and models that help identify areas susceptible to mass removal for the municipality of Alejandría, located in the department of Antioquia. Likewise, allowing these maps and models to be detailed and easy to interpret.
