Resumen
Neostrengeria macropa is currently listed on the world and national red lists as a vulnerable species due to habitat destruction, contamination of water bodies and commercial overexploitation for consumption in aphrodisiac drinks, which has contributed to the decline of its populations. Therefore, it is essential to carry out research studies that will allow us to draw up plans for its conservation. This work contributes to the knowledge of its reproductive biology by showing the first macroscopic and histological description of the ovaries, the variables that influence the ovarian cycle and the reproductive peaks of the species. For the above, the ovaries were analyzed classifying them by color and size, then histological sections were made to determine the phases of vitellogenesis and ovogenesis; this methodology allowed us to know the development of the oocytes throughout a year of monitoring, to determine the peaks of reproduction, locating its maximum point in the month of May and to relate the rainy seasons of the municipality of Suesca Cundinamarca with a greater reproduction, to suggest closed seasons in the species.
