Resumen
This monograph presents the zoning of the seismic hazard and the areas susceptible to damage in buildings in the event of a seismic event, through the spatial analysis with geographic information systems (GIS) of the seismotectonic sources present in the department of Tolima, Colombia. This is an indispensable result in the planning and execution of risk management plans to be carried out by the territorial entity, since it allows determining the areas susceptible to damage in the event of a seismic event that may affect the population living in municipalities, population centers or rural areas. The monograph, seismotectonic sources of the department of Tolima are determined from parameterization based on variables such as active geological faults and historical earthquakes present in the study area. The Maximum Likelihood statistical method was used, the Gutenberg-Richter law and data adjustment by means of a potential regression, thus obtaining the Seismic Hazard maps in a certain return period; after this analysis, the susceptibility of the constructions located in the populated centers is evaluated by means of data superposition methods such as floor number, type of construction, lithology and geomorphology of the area. In addition, a spatial application of a survey was carried out with which it is possible to define the intensity of a seismic event; this information is visualized in a Geovisor, which functions as a spatial support tool in the management of seismic risk in the department of Tolima and its provinces.
