Resumen
Recycling is a physicochemical or mechanical process that consists of subjecting an already used material to a total or partial treatment cycle to obtain a raw material or a new product and subsequently give it a new life cycle. There are thousands of products on the market that can be recycled, among which are tires. In Colombia, a large part of the tires after their use, are stored in clandestine deposits, roofs or housing yards and in public spaces (lakes, rivers, streets and parks) with serious consequences in environmental, economic and health terms. Used tires become the ideal habitat for vectors such as rats and mosquitoes, which transmit different diseases. When used tires are disposed of in open dumps, they pollute the soil, renewable natural resources and affect the landscape. Additionally, they generate difficulties in the operation of sanitary landfills. (Ministry of the environment, 2020)
For the recycling of tires there are several processes already developed, one of them is recycling by mechanical crushing, from this process a material is obtained that has various applications and on which this project is proposed.
The objective is to design a tire shredding machine that facilitates the use of these materials in new processes and applications. Taking into account that shredding with mechanical systems is the previous step in the different methods of recovery and profitability of tire waste.
In our country, there are rules that regulate the proper treatment of some wastes that cause a great impact on their final disposal, regulated by the Ministry of the Environment, Housing and Territorial Development through post-consumer plans for hazardous waste.
Formulating and implementing a project focused on the recycling of tires is a great opportunity to allow an adequate disposal of this type of waste that by law importing and producing companies of tires must collect.
