Resumen
The purpose of this project is to present to the company "LUMAR CUEROS", an alternative use of the residue generated in the process of scraping or fleshing of the flesh after splitting, this biomass is known in the tanning industry as raspa, or also called in the municipality of Belen Nariño as "white Guiza", which at the time of obtaining it is free of chemicals that cause excessive acidity or alkalinity in it. During the development of this project, the feasibility for the survival of methanogenic organisms in the biomass, which can produce methane gas by means of an anaerobic digestion process, was found. As a biodigestion system it is recommended to use a Batch type system, this is presented as the best option, due to the frequency of biomass generation, which is generated once a month, in a period of 2 to 3 days, it is also presented as a system in which dry organic matter can be added, giving the possibility of having a greater control of the acidic environment that can be produced inside the container. For this type of biomass, an approximate production of 160 𝑁𝑚3 of biogas is calculated in an estimated time of 100 days, with a calculated methane content of 120 𝑁𝑚3. By improving the pigmentation process of the skins, there is an internal rate of return of 100% of the investment.
