Resumen
The school has a responsibility with people as acts like the main mean to educate citizens about the environmental problematical that the country has. The textbooks are privileged devices that are used to select, organize and transmit the most important content about any topic. That is why; the aim of this investigation is looking for the environment and environmental education’s conceptions, which are presented on the high school natural sciences textbooks. We used the Content Analysis in order to detect those conceptions presented by textbooks. The test sample was nine textbooks of highschool in 7°, 8° and 9° grade, doing a tracking in three editorial: Norma, Santillana and Voluntad. We utilize Theoretical, epistemological and legal framework related with environment, environmental education to formulate analysis categories to interpretate the textbooks’ content with them. We got, about Environment, a main relevance of Category Naturalist (100%) and Category Holistic (22%) what says that the textbooks have a reductionist conception about environment. This is inconvenient for the students’ teaching and learning, because this conception alienates the student from his/her reality. About Environmental Education, the Category Relevant Topics has a main presence with 72% in average of four subcategories; Category Environmental Education Aims (17%) and Strategies that it Propose with (0%) in subcategory of Project. These results show, first, a reductionist conception in treatment of environmental education, because textbooks explain topics like Pollution, Urbanization without relation with anthropic dynamics; second, the textbooks don’t give proposes about formulation of Scholar Environmental Project so, the students won’t have some backgrounds to think how to improve their environment and; third, the textbooks are not using legal framework for including environmental education on them, as the Environmental Education National Politic from Colombia (2002).
