Resumen
This article is a research product of the "Model of approximation to the behavior of voluntary university desertion in undergraduate engineering" carried out during the years 2015-2017 in the Francisco José de Caldas District University. Problem: According to several preliminary studies, university education worldwide has shortcomings and shortcomings generating high levels of desertion. Objective: To raise awareness of the levels and projection of student desertion in these careers nationally and internationally. Methodology: To give a vision at the Colombian level, statistical reports of the problem are generated, supported by the SPADIES tool. At a global level, it is based on the data generated by the World Bank and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. culture. Conclusion: Understanding education as a field continually exposed to change can generate strategies to mitigate shortcomings and ensure the permanence of students. Results: The importance of the follow-up of the factors strengthens the statistical analysis by measuring and quantifying the levels of incorporation and desertion. Limitations: The lack of information provided by the District University hinders the analysis of this. Originality: A dropout analysis of engineering students is presented worldwide and the creation of a compact base for the District University is proposed.
