Water footprint, an impact indicator in water use

| dc.description | The colombian economic develpment offers a lot benefits to population welfare in order to improve the standard of living. Howerver, it has envolved through a lot of changes in the perception of Natural Resources expressed in water as a vital componet. Outliers such as floods or droughts are issues that affect directly the people social condition, such as disnutrition, slmus of cities, antysanitary life conditions, lacking of public services, poor land use, poverty and hunger. A sustainability vision induces to measure the water poorprint in planning units of Enviromental Goods of Services (i.e.: zonal scheme and management of the watershed). This article induces a reflection about the models used to perfom these mathematical measurements that if certainly adjusted to context, are far away of cultural, political and ethical planning values limiting the operation of social inclusion operating within ecosystem functions in order to build a water as an invaluable natural capital. | en-US |
| dc.description | El desarrollo económico del país ha presentado grandes beneficios para el bienestar de la población y para el mejoramiento de sus niveles de vida. Sin embargo, ha traído consigo también una serie de cambios en la percepción de los Recursos Naturales, dicha transformación se ha manifestado en uno de los componentes de vital importancia: “El agua”. Los valores extremos (inundaciones o sequías) son problemáticas que afectan de manera directa las condiciones sociales de la población, como es el caso de la desnutrición, la tugurización de las ciudades, las condiciones antisanitarias, la falta de servicios públicos, el mal uso del suelo, la miseria y el hambre. Una visión de sustentabilidad está en “medir” la huella hídrica en unidades de planificación de los bienes y servicios ambientales, es decir, en el esquema de ordenamiento territorial y en la ordenación de la cuenca hidrográfica.Este artículo provoca a una reflexión sobre los modelos utilizados para realizar estas mediciones matemáticas que, aunque ajustadas a las realidades del contexto, se alejan mucho de los valores culturales, políticos y éticos a la ahora de una planificación para el manejo y una inclusión social con limitantes desde la funciones ecosistémicas del capital natural del agua como recurso invaluable. | es-ES |
