Resumen
This document contains the study of adjustment and coordination of overcurrent and distance protections in the Torca 115 kV substation and its area of influence. This was requested by XM SA ESP to the Department of Maintenance of Protections AT, of Enel - Codensa SA ESP, due to the occurrence of two events in particular that warned about possible loss of coordination of the protection system in that node of the system. The study consists of the analysis of the current protection system in the face of the simulated presence of faults at 1%, 50%, 99% on the lines of the area of influence, where the simulated events were single-phase faults (0 Ω, 10 Ω, 20Ω ), biphasic, biphasic to ground (0 Ω, 5 Ω, 10Ω) and triphasic, taking into account three simulation scenarios: Maximum demand and minimum demand; coupling of the 115 kV bars of Torca open and closed; condition n-1 and with all the assets available, the above, through the simulation software PSS CAPE®. In the development of this study, 16 power substations, 26 transmission lines and five 230/115 kV transformation banks were taken into account, all of them include 41 overcurrent protections and 63 distance protections. The results obtained showed the existence of errors in some settings of the protections, which could cause a neglect of the energy demand and a risk in the useful life of the equipment. These errors found were corrected and validated to finally present to the operator of the National Interconnected System an adjustment proposal that represents an increase in the selectivity and reliability of the protection system of this important node of the system.
