Abstract

A good transmission design is a key piece for the operation of a vehicle, since it will be in charge of transmitting all the power generated by the engine to the wheels. In the specific case of the SAE formula and its different competitions around the world, these require certain capabilities of the single-seater in the different specific tests (acceleration event, skidpad event, autocross event and endurance event). Thanks to the fact that the competition offers freedom of design, different alternatives can be proposed for the same purpose, where the most important factor of the transmission is the maximum use of the engine's performance, which implies that the components must be light, durable and easy to maintain. By analyzing the specific requirements, each element is designed according to the work it has to perform within the transmission, guaranteeing good operation and reliability, subjecting them to static studies that recreate the conditions to which each part has to be subjected.
