Resumen
This qualitative narrative study explored how adult English learners build their self-concept as language learners. To support this research study, I took the challenge of personalized class offered by a private institution in Bogotá D.C. The study was carried out in different contexts proposed by the learners and the teacher with the intention to create a confident place where learners felt secure to talk about their experiences around English learning. After becoming acquainted with the context and acknowledging the background of each EL learner, the narratives were constructed taking into account what they talk about themselves in each stage of learning and how they felt when facing English classes. The conversations with each learner were the bridge to show how social and family experiences influence the construction of their English learner self-concept.
