Resumen
Framed within a qualitative methodology, this research represents an approach to understanding the awareness about violence and reconciliation uncovered in the stories and descriptions of boys and girls between 5 and 12 years old. This approach was initially carried out through workshops and focus groups in which the participants recounted various experiences related to these two concepts that are essential to the country’s reality and which have traditionally been approached from an adult’s perspective. These experiences were recorded, transcribed, and subsequently analyzed in the light of various categories such as intersubjectivity, subjects, stories, and knowledge, in order to not only recognize the similarities and differences within the narrative structure, but also to identify the roles that boys and girls play in facing the situations they experience in their daily lives. This research recognizes a child’s agency and therefore the importance of their voice and knowledge as fundamental elements for building a society that appreciates boys and girls as valuable interlocutors with a leading role in the building of peace and reconciliation.
