Abstract

This project presents a review of the establishment and operation of a meristem micropropagation laboratory, detailing everything from the laboratory setup, with an emphasis on the layout of sterile areas and rigorous aseptic protocols, to the methodology focused on the selection and disinfection of meristematic explants and their cultivation in optimized growth media with precise compositions of nutrients and growth regulators. The need for detailed protocols for each stage of the process is emphasized, ensuring uniformity and reproducibility in the results. Validation includes success and quality metrics such as growth rate, genetic integrity, and absence of contaminants, with periodic controls and viability tests. The document serves as a comprehensive technical guide for the implementation and maintenance of a micropropagation laboratory, emphasizing methodological precision and rigor in standardization and validation, primarily to comply with national legal regulations for the cultivation and production of Cannabis sp. Following traceability requirements such as Resolution 227 of 2022 required by regulatory entities such as the Ministry of Justice, the FNE, and the ICA, the aim was to ensure high-quality results.
