Resumen
In the context of infrastructure projects, particularly in the construction of rural roads, it is essential to have tools that simplify the control and monitoring of costs and schedules. This project proposes the creation of a mobile application prototype for Android that incorporates project management techniques, such as the Earned Value Method, with the aim of optimizing management and performance in the execution of such works. This application prototype is designed to assist project professionals in tracking progress through the calculation of key performance indicators, such as Actual Cost (AC), Planned Value (PV), and Earned Value (EV). Additionally, it provides a comprehensive environment that simplifies the management of multiple projects and access to key information from a mobile device; this is achieved through the implementation of Firebase as a platform for data storage and synchronization, and the use of Android Studio as the development environment. Regarding the development of the prototype, the Scrum methodology was used, which was suitable for the evolution and progress of the project in each of the methodology’s sprints. The primary programming language used was Java, as it is widely used and supported on Android. On the other hand, for user authentication and real-time database management, Firebase was chosen, as it is part of Google. This prototype was evaluated through a pilot test involving a real road project, which helped measure its effectiveness and make adjustments based on the results obtained. These results have shown that the application prototype can offer a practical alternative in managing costs and schedules in rural road projects, which is highly useful for professionals in the road construction sector.
