It also establishes the equivalence of National Bank notes with silver currency. The Government proceeds to settle accounts with the National Bank and allocates funds to back its own banknotes, as well as to purchase gold and silver. The law also establishes restrictions, such as the prohibition of certain financial operations and the obligation to exchange low-grade currency for paper money within an established period.
