Resumen
The species senecio madagascariensis poir (originally from Africa) belongs to the family Asteraceae and the genus Senecio and is known as "manzanilla del llano". It was detected in Colombia from the beginning of the eighties and since then the cataloging as the invasion in the Andes region, more precisely in the center of the country. Studies have determined that this species is toxic when consumed, due to the high content of pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Currently, the study of these compounds has been studied as chemotaxonomic markers of the species. This is the previous research, this research work aims at the chemical and biological study of the parts of this species, by determining the secondary metabolites of antioxidant capacity by the DPPH method.
