Abstract

Interest in the study of the social construction of space in the social sciences began in the late seventies. For social scientists the importance of understanding the ways of appropriation of both physical and symbolic space and transformations of the material to the abstract became a theoretical necessity. With the globalization of culture physical space it is also a symbolic space and can speak of a transformation of the environment that involves understanding the ways of appropriating space, recognize and characterized by community work. This research on the appropriation of space in the Emilio Urrea neighborhood park Casablanca Suba: an approach to the work of public and participatory work shows through action research as a graduate in the field of social sciences can analyze, evaluate and transform participatory processes of social construction of space in non-formal spaces and samples some guidelines for conducting such an exercise a community where the population was characterized by the participation of elderly and children.
