Resumen
“Strategies for Listening Comprehension in an Interactive Multimodal Environment” was a proposal of strategy instruction to foster listening comprehension skills and encourage students' autonomous learning of English. Language learning materials were created along with an interactive multimodal environment to develop the listening skill. Also, the research took authentic videos under the methodology of CALLA (Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach). Following the methodology of Action research, a cycle was proposed in which there were stages (Preliminary reflection, Experimentation, and Further reflection) that were associated with the process of self-regulated learning that learners develop with the implementation of metacognitive strategies. The qualitative research conducted to assess the innovation used questionnaires and surveys. The designed materials provide a way of using metacognitive strategies (planning, monitoring, problem-solving, and evaluating) appropriately to develop listening comprehension, and they foster students’ awareness of the listening process by giving them opportunities to enrich their metacognitive knowledge about themselves as listeners, the challenges of listening in an L2, and the strategies to monitor their learning processes.
