Resumen
It has been found that atmospheric discharges are one of the main causes of unscheduled interruptions in transmission lines and inverse flares through the chain of insulators, caused by shielding failures and direct discharges to guard structures or cables, causing aging in the chain of insulators and even in some cases, their destruction. In this sense, this type of events related to the grounding system, have emphasized the need to improve the design, construction and maintenance processes of the grounding grid of the transmission lines. The present work characterizes, diagnoses and improves the electrical design process of the grounding system of the transmission lines intervened by CODENSA, based on the investigation of international standards, local and company design criteria, evaluation of requirements basic design, accompaniments in the field to the collaborating company and determination of the causes that cause deviations in the designs of the grounding mesh.
