Establecimiento de la colección de referencia de mariposas Pronophilina (Nymphailidae: Satyrinae) en la colección de artrópodos y otros invertebrados CAUD-216 de la Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas

Abstract

This work addresses the valuable role of biological collections as reservoirs of biodiversity in our country and their contribution to the conservation of natural history in Colombia. The internship was carried out in the collection of arthropods and other invertebrates CAUD-216 belonging to the Francisco José de Caldas District University, with the main objective of establishing a reference collection of butterflies of the Pronophilina subtribe. For this, curatorial processes, taxonomic determination and systematization were carried out. As a result, 96 specimens were incorporated which were determined up to the taxonomic category of species, including specimens such as Corades cybele, Pedaliodes phanzania, Steroma polyxo, among others, and endemic species such as Manerebia nevadensis and Pedaliodes symmachus. This work contributed to the creation of consultation spaces for the Pronophilina subtribe for future research and in standardization processes for digitalization in databases. Hence the importance of completing an internship in curating entomological material.
