Resumen
The creation of a methodology for the analysis and selection of targets allows the IBM Software Licensing team to identify and choose clients to audit the use of the software within their companies, through their main process, the Software Licensing Reviews. This project was developed using Lean Design Thinking, to generate an improvement, focused on facilitating the targeting process for users, in this case, the team mentioned, considering their needs and expectations regarding the process functioning. For the design of this methodology, the relevant criteria were identified to make an adequate analysis of the Licensing area’s clients, according to the experience of the team members. These criteria are implemented through the Ranking Algorithm, which assigns a rating to the candidates analyzed to obtain a ranking of clients, ordered according to their potential to be part of a Software Licensing Review. This potential is mainly determined by the number of software products they own, and that have high probabilities of generating gaps, being the most important variable for the algorithm. In addition, the customer is rated according to the value of their software purchases over the past four years, the number of audits for which they have previously been chosen, the year of closure of their last review, and other items related to their software infrastructure. The algorithm prioritizes clients who have not been considered for audits in previous years to expand the scope of audits in much of South America, Central America, and Caribbean countries.
