Resumen
This work exposes a methodological proposal that aims to diagnose the archaeological potential of any area of Colombia through a geographic information system and the application of descriptive statistics and multicriteria analysis. The study area corresponds to the strip that occupies the middle channel of the Cauca River, between the municipalities of La Pintada, to the south and Santa Fé de Antioquia, to the north. This is taken as a pilot area, since civil works are becoming more frequent there, which greatly threatens the integrity of the archaeological heritage. That is why, through the cultural information obtained from the archaeological atlas of Colombia, spatial analyzes were carried out that allowed us to design a predictive model, where areas with high, medium and low possibility of finding archaeological sites were identified. This with the aim of establishing a management tool that will allow us to diagnose the archaeological potential of any area of the country, and thus help to make decisions aimed at safeguarding the Colombian archaeological heritage.
