Resumen
This research work explores, describes and analyzes how parents and their parenting styles are described by boys and girls in the third grade of primary school of the San José de Castilla District Educational Institution, Bogotá, Colombia. The research sought to contribute to the exercise of a humanized upbringing from the voices of the boys and girls; For this, the Participatory Action Research method was developed based on the Kemmis & Mctaggart (1988) proposal, establishing three cycles from which 8 reports from participating children, 4 reports from participating guardians and 4 SWOT matrices were obtained; which were analyzed from the dimensions related to the parental educational styles proposed by Baumrind, (1966) and Maccoby & Martín (1983). The results obtained allowed us to promote the humanized parenting model based on spaces for reflection between fathers, mothers and guardians and the research teachers, built from the feelings of the children regarding the way adults manage different parenting situations. Based on the work carried out, it is possible to conclude that: punishment in all its forms is a frequent practice in families that goes against a humanized upbringing, stories are a liberating practice that allows children to self-manage development, recreation as a strategy of affective involvement depends on the particular and contextual possibilities; The diversity of families generates multiple childhood experiences that, far from being a problem, are an opportunity to learn emerging practices such as humanized upbringing.
