The purpose of this research is to determine the area of the gill chamber and to elaborate the description of the pseudolung according to the altitudinal distribution in crabs of the genus Neostrengeria. For this, a total of 50 individuals distributed in the departments of Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Tolima were collected; the morphometric variation of the branchial chamber was evaluated by means of MorphoJ; the area of the branchial chamber by means of ImageJ, and by means of SEM scanning microphotography the description of the perforated area of the pseudolung was made. Subsequently, the correlations of these results with environmental variables such as altitude, temperature and dissolved oxygen in water were contrasted by means of PCA and AC using four species of a genus different from Neostrengeria as control groups to evaluate their differences and correlations; finding in this description and statistical analysis, correlations of the species with the altitude and temperature at which the individual is located, as in the case of N. boyacensis and N. macropa where a record of 5 and 8 perforations in females was obtained. and 20 and 30 core perforations, respectively, at an altitude greater than 2700 masl and temperatures below 12°C. Evidencing the changes that individuals present when the altitude is high, and therefore, the environmental temperature is low, since they tend to present fewer pores and their area tends to be smaller in contrast to the individuals evaluated in variables. different; leading to recognize the importance of caring for water sources and with it the care and conservation of the species described here, as well as the communities to which they belong, encouraging research and knowledge of this fauna.
