At present, GPON networks are the most optimal option for an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to provide connections with a high bandwidth capacity to its clients, taking into account that nodes must be in which the topology It has active elements, it should be remembered that the operation of these elements depends on electricity, therefore if there is a lack of energy the equipment cannot operate, in the same way as they are elements that keep them operational 24 hours a day or due to maneuvers carried out by personnel In the node, the terminal equipment may be blocked, the delay in solving these events generates a bad perception on the part of the clients. For the company Hv Multiplay, a solution to the previously raised problem is the use of monitoring software, but this software is licensed, so it is limited to a certain number of devices. According to the above, the internship will design and implement a monitoring system that solves the problems of the company. This system must take into account the operation of the active elements, as well as the installation of elements in the nodes that can be monitored from a network operations center (NOC), there must be software that generates alerts with the help of of protocols such as SMTP and ICMP, this allows preventive or corrective measures to be taken as the case may be, the combination of these elements results in a system that generates an alert about various failures (failures that affect the operation of the Internet service, such as electrical failures or blockage in equipment), which allows the displacement of personnel to review in case of blockage on site or to support the node with a power plant before the capacity of elements such as UPS and batteries reaches zero, thus improving failure response times. The monitoring system will be implemented as a degree project in the internship modality and will be carried out at the telecommunications company HV Multiplay, located in the city of Bogotá. The company hopes to have an efficient monitoring system, which has no limitation on the number of devices to be linked and which allows it to react to various failures, this will allow it to act effectively and have better diagnoses in the GPON network.
