Resumen
High rainfall causes the increase in water load in the river basin, generating overflows that lead to threatening situations. The zoning of the threat and the evaluation of the vulnerability by flood are fundamental procedures for the decision making from the point of view of the planning of a territory and the studies for the mitigation and management of the risk. Using the hydrological and hydraulic inputs, information on depth and flow velocity is obtained according to the characteristics of the slope. The classification of the flood threat level of the zone has the categories (High, Medium, Low). The map is the product of the fusion of the layer of depths and velocities per pixel, which were later categorized into the different levels of threat. In this study the techniques, procedures and tools of a Geographical Information System (GIS) were used, to know exactly the areas of threat and vulnerability due to flooding, by means of spatial modeling in the la Manga Island sector in the municipality of Yopal. The necessary inputs and criteria were specified to zone the threat areas and assess the vulnerability by flooding and then proceeded to map. Finally, a GIS web service was developed for the management, visualization, consultation and analysis of the results for decision making.
