Resumen
The indigenous community Kamëntšá Biyá is located in Sibundoy municipality, the majority of which is in the rural area. The Sibundoy Valley is located in the department of Putumayo in southern Colombia. When talking about the Teaching of Social Sciences in the Kamëntšá community, it starts from the natural and social scenarios, the actions of daily life, the cultural practices, the weaving, the symbolic writing, the mother tongue, the territory, the relationship of the human being with Mother Earth. As for formal education, some authors consider that social sciences are linked to social, political, and economic struggles, etc. With the innovation that is taking place over time and the changes generated, there is a tendency to find new scenarios that go beyond the traditional. However, we must bear in mind that over the years cultural practices have been transformed, taking into account the different events that indigenous peoples have suffered, the imposition of religion, Hispanicization, discrimination, and many other factors, this to the point of wanting to disappear the formation itself, where they have come to impose other types of the model under threat of extermination to the people; as Kamëntšás not to be exterminated have been subjected to that model taking care not to lose the cultural practices, but over time have been disappearing at an accelerated pace.
In this work, we will find out what has been the teaching of social sciences through own education and formal education, what kind of tensions have been generated with institutionalized education and what strategies have been implemented by the Kamëntšá people to face this situation.
