Resumen
The research excercise is developed to opt for the tittle as Specialists in Childhood, Culture and Development of the Francisco José de Caldas District University. This first approach is interested in understanding what traditional knowledge is that has three families linked to the Family Growing Service and how these come into relation or "no" with the scientific knowledge promoted by the institutions where they are hosted. The categories that were built and in which it was deepened were: Lactation, puerperium, being a mother and being a boy / girl; These categories and the analysis of the stories of both the families and the professionals of the Service were carried out based on the theoretical references on childhood, culture, development, the study of parenting, practice and traditional knowledge. Through the story it was possible to know, understand and interpret the importance of traditional knowledge in these, the place that this knowledge occupies in the practices of raising and caring for their sons and daughters; likewise inquire about the knowledge that the professionals of said knowledge have and how they articulate them with their work.
