Resumen
Dance in musical theatre plays a fundamental role within the creative and expressive process. More than a visual complement, it is a stage language that communicates emotions, builds atmospheres, and reinforces the narrative. Through the body and movement, performers connect with the audience in a sensory and profound way, turning each gesture and motion into an essential part of the story. Dance contributes rhythm, dynamism, and visual coherence, establishing itself as an indispensable element in the dramaturgy of musical theatre. The experience of directing and producing The Nutcracker made it evident that dance is the core that integrates the different languages of musical theatre: acting, singing, and stage design. It also highlights the need for transdisciplinary training for performing artists and for production processes that value time, resources, and technical preparation. In conclusion, dance not only accompanies the piece—it gives it life, rhythm, and meaning. It is the bridge between sound and emotion, and one of the essential pillars of contemporary musical theatre
