Resumen
The geostatistical analysis in coal mining for geological modeling, classification and estimation of resources means a change in the methodologies used by mining companies. This study used simple Kriging for modeling thickness, ash, calorific value, total humidity and specific gravity. When comparing the overall results of the estimation of the resources of three seams generated with simple Kriging against those calculated by the company with the usual methodology, an over-estimation of 1.22% is found, which is why it is considered an effective method. On the other hand, the variability of the coal seams was analysed using the errors of estimation and cross-validation, which show that the resources of this mine are understood at the level of Measured and Indicated Resources and that in the areas where there is no perforations can reach this status with a 600 x 600 m mesh.
