Reading comprehension is one of the most important aspects of the ELT process; enhancing it has turned into an important focus when teaching a language and several strategies are developed to deal with this matter. In this regard, the study aims to analyze how the use of the PQ4R strategy enhances ninth graders’ reading comprehension in EFL classes in a public school through the implementation of a didactic unit based on 10 sessions. The instruments proposed in this study are focus group interviews, researchers’ journals, and reading tests. The type of study is qualitative action research. The results of the study are the following: 1) There are positive differences in students' comprehension achievements before and after being taught by using the PQ4R strategy. 2) The strategy increased most of the students' reading comprehension achievement in understanding vocabulary 3) Classes focused on reading skills will enhance reading comprehension in the school and different tests such as standard national tests.
