Resumen
The present work aims to propose strategies that allow the development of inquiry competence through a Virtual Learning Object (VLO) that, together with the pedagogical strategy of Problem Based Learning (PBL), allows students in fifth grade the appropriation of scientific language applied to Natural Sciences. Accordingly, the general objective of this research proposal is: to determine the effect on the development of inquiry competence from the implementation of an OVA, which addresses problem-based learning in Natural Sciences of fifth grade students of the Colegio Integrado de Fontibón IBEP. Taking into account the guiding question and the objectives of this research, it is possible to determine that the dependent variable is the competence of inquiry, understood as the ability to pose questions and adequate procedures to search, select, organize and interpret relevant information to answer those questions. Regarding the independent variable, the OVA is considered, which is designed under the PBL strategy.
According to the results obtained in the application of the OVA, it was found that students showed this knowledge in the execution of each mission or challenge, where they developed skills in the formulation of questions, hypothesis formulation, construction and interpretation of tables and graphs, which allowed them to finally provide a solution to the problem posed. For this reason, teachers should promote this type of activities that stimulate curiosity, interest and learning of science, developing scientific knowledge and addressing the competence of inquiry in the classroom. Because it was possible to determine that teaching at the Institution focuses on other skills such as: exploring, investigating and consulting.
