Resumen
TV Soaps -audiovisual productions that take on a leading role in Latin American television- have been taken from the academy as elements that can explain social and cultural phenomena. Due to this, there are multiple investigations oriented to this objective. With this background, this research aims to take a particular telenovela as its central axis and carry out an analysis within its very development, pondering it as an audiovisual work in order to grant it the pertinent academic dignity. This purpose will be carried out through an analysis of the main character. The telenovela selected was produced and broadcast in 1999 and its name is Yo soy Betty, la fea. It is necessary to indicate that before the analysis, a short description called contextualization will be made in order to appreciate the relevance of said television production. This analysis seeks to determine an antiheroic character manifested by the character herself, her name: Beatriz Pinzón Solano. It should be noted that the concept of antihero is not determined by a particular author, so it is necessary to make a construction from the concept of the hero and its diachronic nature. To get to the traits that separate from the hero, but do not have a villainous tinge and therefore become different from the hero, they will be defined as anti-heroic. With the traits found in the theoretical framework, a data saturation will be made that allows each antiheroic trait to be contrasted with each action of the character. These actions are appreciated under the glass of the character himself. Within the conclusions it is found that there are intrinsic relationships between the structural consolidation of the character of Beatriz with the theoretical dispositions that exist towards the antihero as a concept.
