Resumen
The present paper contains the results of an experimental study, which sought to evaluate the resistance of an asphalt mixture (MDC-19, according to INVIAS 2013), manufactured by replacing coarse and fine fractions of natural stone aggregate, by blast furnace steel slag . In the study, the basic properties corresponding to the characterization of the materials to be used, behavior and Marshall design (low monotonic load behavior), based on Colombian standards of the National Institute of Roads (INVIAS, 2013) were evaluated. The study showed that the best performance under load Monotonic, is experienced by the asphalt mixture where the fine fraction of natural stone aggregate was replaced by blast furnace steel slag. On the other hand, the response of the asphalt mixture to the substitution of the coarse fraction of the same, generates increase of voids in the mixture.
