Resumen
This report documents the experience lived as interns of the ministerial program "Viva la Escuela" in rural educational institutions in Colombia, specifically in El Cairo (San Martín, Cesar) and Simón Bolívar (Soracá, Boyacá). In response to the educational gaps exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, skills and knowledge developed as students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Artistic Education were employed to design and implement pedagogical strategies that promote meaningful learning. The process included a thorough assessment of the schools' needs, collaboration with the lead teachers at the host institutions where we conducted our internships, and the integration of active methodologies such as project-based learning in the arts and cognitive approaches. This report highlights how these interventions significantly contributed to the educational environment, improving both academic performance and the emotional wellbeing of the students. Additionally, we underscore the transformative importance of artistic education in rural communities.
