Resumen
Within the framework of culture and play, a qualitative study has been carried out that addresses the transformations in play patterns, playful preferences and toys of boys and girls over a period of 23 years. The analysis reveals notable changes in how children relate to the game and their environment, influenced by technological progress and social factors. The irruption of technology, especially the internet and video games, has drastically altered the ways of playing, displacing outdoor activities towards more virtual and solitary options, keeping children indoors. Added to this, factors such as the economic situation and perceived security have also had an impact on the dynamics of the game. Traditional games in public spaces have declined due to safety concerns, limiting outdoor interactions. Rapid population growth has presented challenges in terms of space and resources, influencing children's play patterns. In addition, the worrying trend towards early consumption of psychoactive substances has added a worrying dimension to the game dynamics, affecting child development and their playful choices. This study highlights how the intersection of technology, social factors, and the urban environment has led to significant changes in the gaming behaviors and preferences of boys and girls in Bogotá. These results offer insightful insight into the evolution of traditional play culture and provide guidance for educators and sports professionals to adapt to these transformations and foster the healthy development of children. The research emphasizes the need to balance technological integration with the preservation of traditional games and activities, ensuring comprehensive growth for Bogotá youth.
