Resumen
Water is a fundamental resource for life, the functioning of ecosystems and the socioeconomic development of communities. However, the inadequate handling and management of the water resource in the Buenavista district has led to the deterioration of the conditions and quality of the water in the Caño Parrado micro-basin; therefore, it is necessary to propose environmental strategies for the conservation and protection of this water body, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of community water management. For this, the main direct and indirect social actors were identified around the management of the water resource of the Caño Parrado micro-basin in the Buenavista village, and they were classified into five (5) large categories: Government entities, social organizations, economic sector , academic sector, users and community. Then, through participatory mechanisms with said actors, the different socio-environmental problems in the study area are determined, with their respective causes and effects. In this way, under the same participatory approach, opportunities are established and it is proposed as an environmental strategy, to establish a community monitoring program, which will contribute to strengthening the management of water resources in the Buenavista village and, consequently, improve the quality and efficient use of the water collected in the Caño Parrado Micro-basin.
