Resumen
This paper describes the process of creating a literary illustrated eBook as an alternative and creative product to be used in the public high school EFL classroom so as to promote critical thinking. The concepts of Freirean criticality, Collaborative learning and the practical uses of literary works in the EFL field, were defined and supported by a variety of authors and projects related to these main constructs that guided the objectives of this digital material. The research justifies theoretically and empirically the effectiveness of using literary short stories to engage students to use English as the means to understand and explain the reflections they had on the relation of these narrations to their lives. Finally, in the different stages of the methodology, it can be evidenced that students’ opinions were taken into consideration in the design of this visual and accessible material in the format of PDF.
